Make Your Own Custom Black Tea Blends at Home

I love tea people. I guess it takes one to know one. One of our customers recently wrote to me about his black tea blending attempts both triumphs and fails.

I have to admit, I've never been open to blends... I'm more of a purist but I've tried these and I agree; they add interesting nuance. If you are a black tea fan, please have a go!

He says: "Here's what I've observed:

[I've also found ] It's pointless to blend Dabang with Sumatra because they cancel each other out.

Dian Hong does not play nicely with any other tea.

Similarly the Red Jade has so much going on it generally doesn't blend well. But It's OK with Formosa Assam.

1 or 2g of Burmese breakfast tea is good to add to any blend if you want it bolder, but it shouldn't be mixed 50/50 because it will overpower whatever it's mixed with.

Although I've never blended more than three teas, a good triple blend is Formosa, Dabang & Honey Black"

What about you? Have you ever blended Black Teas?  What are your recommendations?

(Our Premium Lapsang Souchong is newer and not on this list but try blending with it and let me know what you think.  I'd love to know his thoughts.)

Thank you Clay!
